The DISA Return to Duty Program (R2DP) is a voluntary, coordinated effort by the Department of Defense (DoD) and its civilian partners to help our wounded, injured, and disabled service members and their families return to work.

The R2DP supports wounded, injured, and disabled service men and their families throughout their recovery. R2DP offers: Reemployment Assistance Employment Assistance Career Services -Rehabilitation Services -Family Support The DoD’s R2DP offers services countrywide to service members and their families. Five components comprise the R2DP: MSVA, DoD, Social Security Administration, Labour, and Veterans Affairs. The R2DP involves the five main elements and representatives from each agency.

How You Can Help Our Heroes Return to Work through the DISA Return to Duty Program


Our heroes are the men and women who have served our country in the Armed Forces. They have put their lives on the line to protect our freedom and our way of life. They deserve our support and our gratitude.

The Department of Defense’s (DOD) Disability Evaluation System (DES) is designed to help these heroes return to work. The DES is a three-step process that starts with a medical examination to determine if the service member is physically and mentally fit for duty. If the service member is found to be unfit for duty, the DES will provide a recommendation for treatment. The service member then undergoes a rehabilitation program and is re-evaluated. If the service member is still found to be unfit for duty,

The DES will provide a recommendation for discharge from the military.

The DES is a voluntary program, and it is up to the service member to decide if they want to participate. There is no cost to the service member for the DES.

The DES is just one of the many programs available to help our heroes return to work.
